If this website had a soundtrack, this would be it. These are songs that I feel either match the overall atmosphere of Miracles in some way (they're Miraclesy ^_^), or would fit well within the confines of a story. If you think a certain song should be up here, and you can send that song to me in some format, please contact me through the link on the main page. :)
These wavs are in a format called an MPEG Layer 3. While they are NOT mp3's, they can be played on an mp3 player. If you want to be able to play them on another program, like Sound Recorder, you need to have the Netshow Plug-In installed on your computer. You will know if you do not have Netshow, because you will get an error message when you try to play these wavs. If that happens, go to download.com and get yourself the Netshow Plug-In.
Sometimes, playing the wavs works better if you right-click the link, choose "Save Target As," then save them to your own computer, and play them from there. It really depends on your connection at the time of download. Of course, these songs will sound best on the original CD's from which they come, so please go out and buy some CD's today and make these artists happy! ~_^
The Overall Atmosphere of Miracles:
"I Believe" by Bon Jovi - 812kb - Lyrics
The song that gave this site its name, and several key lyrical passages to use as a backdrop. To me, the song is about believing in yourself and having faith, and through this, you can change the world. What better message to represent Miracles?
"Only After Dark" by Def Leppard - 572kb - Lyrics
This song gave the Adult Page its name; it's a very sensual song, so I thought it fit well.
"Half-Light" by tomandandy with Low - 635kb
I have no idea who Low is, but tomandandy have done many film scores. This song comes from the soundtrack of The Mothman Prophecies. The mood of it strongly reminds me of Miracles. Sorry, but I don't currently have the lyrics. Thanks to Innogen for sending me this song.
"Ordinary World" by Duran Duran - 810kb - Lyrics
I think if you read the lyrics to this song, you'll understand why I picked it as an overall atmosphere song for Miracles. Paul, Alva, and Evie are always looking for their ordinary world.
Songs from Specific Stories:
"The Gentleman Who Fell" by Milla Jovovich - 659kb - Lyrics
From The Gentleman Who Fell Before the Court. Not only does this song give the story its name, but much of the lyrics apply to the overall atmosphere of this tale about Alva's relationship with his father.
"Papa Can You Hear Me" by Charlotte Church - 497kb - Lyrics
The perfect backdrop for a scene near the end of The Gentleman Who Fell Before the Court. (That will all make a lot more sense once I get the actual story done. ;D)
"Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple - 791kb - Lyrics
From She Just Wanted to Be Heard. A character uses this as her "theme song."
"Girlfriend" by Matthew Sweet - 535kb - Lyrics
A song that will be used in The Red Line South to Dallas.
"Lake of Fire" performed Unplugged by Nirvana and the Meat Puppets, written by the Meat Puppets (I believe) - 350kb - Lyrics
I'm not sure which story this will be used in yet, but I know Mr. Friendly is going to sing this to Evie at some point (based on my ideas from Where is My Tunnel of Light?).
"From the Inside" performed by Def Leppard and the Hothouse Flowers - 611kb - Lyrics
This will be from a cross-over I'm considering, but if I write it, it won't be for quite a while.
"Bed of Roses" performed by Bon Jovi - 943kb - Lyrics
Another song from a cross-over of the same name. The lyrics don't exactly narrate the story, but certain aspects of the song remind me of it.
Character Theme Songs:
"Bounce" by Bon Jovi - 456kb - Lyrics
Heh, just read the lyrics to this song, and I think you'll be reminded of Paul, with his tendency to get hurt.
"Where Does Love Go When It Dies?" by Def Leppard - 583kb - Lyrics
The lyrics and mood of this song strongly remind me of Alva. He's given up so much and has become so indifferent to the state of the world because of what's happened to him in his life, and because of SQ. He seems content simply to save the world as is, not to change it. It's almost like he needs someone to come along and show him again that the world is worth changing for the better.
"Criminal" by Fiona Apple - 663kb - Lyrics
I am quite sure that Alva felt this way during the events of "Hand of God," when Paul found out that he'd been lying to him. Of course, you'd need to change the pronouns of the song and make it slightly less romantic (unless your thinking on the characters goes in that direction, wink wink). Alva will probably continue to feel this way until he's absolutely sure that Paul is going to stay with SQ.
Back to Cross to Bear.
